Happy August! It is unusually cool and quite rainy this morning as a detached surface low pressure system winds itself up pretty tight over the upper Midwest. The rain is a combination of both convective and advective processes so it will be both a) steady and b) heavy at times with embedded thunderstorms. Cool, rainy weather will gradually taper off this evening. Highs will only be around 70F.

Tomorrow will be cool with gradually clearing skies. Highs in the 70s.

THe week ahead looks like it will be seasonable with temps climbing from the 70s on Monday into the upper 80s by the end of the week. After this weekend’s deluge, things should quiet down considerably next week.

Tl;dr - cool and rainy today. High 71F. Rain tapering tonight. Cool, partly cloudy, 70s tomorrow.
