While we are definitely still firmly in the grips of our “Second Summer” (or the more racist term “Indian Summer”), the forecast has changed slightly from earlier in the week. (Still very warm though!)

Former Hurricane Isaias has moved inland and is racing northward. It’s track led it slightly further east than originally anticipated, so I no longer expect any of the moisture/rain from Isaias to affect us. What WILL affect us though, is the warmth. Isaias helped push a big bubble of very warm air northward into the central US and this shoved the jet stream even further north than it already was (which is already pretty far north for this time of year)....

This means very warm temps today through Monday. Clouds from Isaias will blot the sky today, but temps should still max out in the low 80s. Tomorrow will be a smidge cooler but way sunnier with highs in the mid to upper 70s under mostly sunny skies (horrible weather for a marathon, sadly). Monday will be the hottest day of the 3 with the thermometer skyrocketing up into the mid to maybe even UPPER (??) 80s (!). The historical record high temp on Monday is 84F set in 2008 and it’s likely we will break that this year. (Today’s record of 86 seems just slightly out of reach but you never know).

After Monday, I expect temps to gradually return back to earth as a large autumn storm system moves into the area. This system could spead wind, rain, and cooler temps beginning mid-week next week and continuing through next weekend.

Tl;dr - Second Summer rages on! 82F today, partly to mostly cloudy, 76 tomorrow, sunny, 85+ Monday (!)
