The US is currently very divided –– and not just politically 😂–– but in terms of the weather:
A large ridge is building to our west (which will bring scorching heat and powerful Santa Ana winds to SoCal), and a deep synoptic low is strengthening to our east (which is responsible for the chilly temps).
Here in Chicago we are caught right between the two. The result of this broad pattern is a rapidly strengthening storm system over Kansas and Missouri. For us, here, this will result in increasingly gusty winds from the east and cloud cover today. Temps will be similar to yesterday - high 50s. The rain should remain to our south and west.
That storm will slip by to our south tomorrow. The city and close suburbs are unlikely to see any material rainfall from this storm, but temps will remain on the cool side and skies will be mostly cloudy. It will also still be windy.
The pattern will gradually shift eastward as a second storm forms on Friday and it does look like Sat and Sun will be unsettled and cooler (40s) with a chance of rain showers.
Tl;dr - Cool, blustery, cloudy, high of 58F. Similar tomorrow. Cooler this weekend w/ chance of rain
